Over the years, I’ve been humbled and honored to facilitate dozens of weddings initially as a musician and later on as an officiant. In the early days when I was serving weddings as a pianist and singer, I relished bringing the Fun!…like the time I was asked to weave the film score from “Forest Gump” into a wedding ceremony! So Cool! Yet, I often left these weddings wondering why the ceremonies themselves couldn’t be as Fun! as the music used in the ceremony, or the reception for that matter. The ceremonies were often boring, with the same, one-size-fits-all scripts, and regurgitated vows.
These observations led me to explore wedding officiating so that I could try to imbue wedding ceremonies with the spirit of excitement, customization, and individual expression that music often does in weddings. The results have been nothing short of electric! as witnessed by the following reviews…

Joe officiated a wedding for our good friends, Abby and Mike, in Evergreen, Colorado this summer. The wedding was a beautiful, good time, and run flawlessly by Joe. It was apparent that he took the care and time to really get to know the bride and groom as the ceremony was heartfelt and personal to the couple. I credit the Fun! I possess as “Your Fun Officiant” to my musical soul. We all have a “soundtrack” that reflects our unique lives and relationships. I love bringing your sound track to life in the way I retell your love story to your wedding guests. An officiant also needs to be comfortable “running” the show and “performing” their role. The hundreds of musical performances I’ve given over my lifetime affords me this level of comfort. I also credit the Fun! I bring to weddings to my Enneagram 7 personality, aka. The Joyful Person. My personality naturally brings light and excitement to a gathering and relishes communicating through the nuances of engaging storytelling. Both of these qualities are a part of the exact disposition you want in your officiant as they share your love story on your special day.
Part of the qualifications to be the Officiant in “Your Fun Officiant” are from my PhD credentials. An officiant needs strong writing skills in order to compose engaging wedding scripts and homilies. They also need to be skilled public speakers with a comfort in leading large crowds. I honed both of these skills through my doctoral studies which included research papers upon research papers, many academic presentations, and a number of professorial teaching assignments several of which where in large lecture halls full of hundreds of college students. Writing and speaking in a way that ignites imagination, captures attention, and informs in an entertaining and relatable fashion is what I do! And it’s what I would love to do for you on your wedding day.
My experience with a wide variety of weddings also distinguishes me as the Officiant in “Your Fun Officiant.” As Fun! as wedding ceremonies can be, they are still a special kind of official, public event – a rite of passage, like a graduation, a bar mitzvah, or a retirement party. It is one thing to experience these events as an attendee. It is entirely different to experience these events as a leader and organizer. Since I’ve been in this latter role routinely, I can bring the leadership of a seasoned veteran which will ensure that your wedding pulls off perfectly for you and your guests.
